Upon entering, you are warmly welcomed by one of the hostesses. Today Gien and Joke are there. They will show you the way to the practice room, maybe bring a glass of water for the medication and look for a good spot for you on the dance floor.
Dido, Hugo or Anita start the dance class in a circle, all seated. So we make no distinction in mobility. As long as you can move anything, even if it is one of your toes, you can just join in. Did you know that just from attending and seeing others having fun, some people can enjoy that too?
We start first by rubbing the limbs: arms, legs, feet, hands. Then head and body follow. We get warmer and the body responds. Thus every particle of your body is warmed and loosened up.
We get more and more active, the music comes on and some people push the chair aside and dance around the room. We create series of exercises together, where everyone adds a piece. There are more than 10 of us dancers and we try to remember and repeat everyone's exercise. Occasionally I miss something for a moment, but by following Dido closely I don't think anyone notices from me.
From all the dancing, I became completely supple after an hour, but also tired. We decide to have a cup of coffee or tea together and talk for a while. Some can enjoy themselves so visibly that it makes me quite happy.
The next morning I wake up. My lower back has been bothering me for a while. I have been struggling a bit during a renovation! That doesn't bother me that morning, how wonderful. Would dancing work so well on your body? It strikes me and I enjoy it....
