Body Company offers running training with technique exercises, boot camp and fitness training in one!
Anyone can learn to run, but often people don't know how! Body Company specializes in coaching real beginners and advanced runners to endurance runs of 5 to a maximum of 10 kilometers. The training sessions are given in the summer by Josette Fransen in the Amsterdam forest. From the winter time, Body Company trains in Bovenkerk / Westwijk. It's about participating, not performing
Josette: “Being able to run outside has given me a lot in recent years. I once started doing it in the Vondelpark. Not to perform or to run competitions. Not to see if I can run faster than someone else, but to clear my head and relax my body after an intensive day at work. This works well for me. After a training session, I feel satisfied, pleasantly tired and that usually makes me sleep well. It's not that I always feel like going. If I had to wait for that, I would do far too little exercise. But by training I feel fitter, stronger and better able to 'keep all the daily balls in the air' of family, work and everything around it. I like to take people with me on a training session and I think it's great to see the process of a training session: everyone arrives, sometimes in a hurry, sometimes calmly. We start and at the end I see red cheeks, steam coming out of their ears, smiling people and satisfied faces. Everyone is proud of themselves for having come again. I am also always proud of everyone who comes, because it is certainly not always easy to put on your sports clothes and go.”
Outdoor training, all year round
Josette Fransen has been giving training for over 11 years, 4 groups a week on Monday and Thursday evenings, 2 groups per evening. From 18:45-19:30 Josette trains the beginners group in which people (learn to) run up to an endurance run of 3-5 km. The advanced group starts from 19:30-20:30, where people train with approximately 4-6 km per lesson and various boot camp exercises that contribute to injury-free running. The training sessions continue all year round, with the exception of the school holidays in the North region. The groups currently consist of men and women aged 30+, 40+, 50+ and 60+. There is room for new people in each group. Some Bovenkerkers are already participating. Who knows, it might be something for you too?!
