All activities take place outside on the grounds of St. Urban Church Bovenkerk.
Christmas Trees
In December we will start the Christmas tree and Christmas arrangement sale starting December 7 daily from 10:00 am - 5:00 pm. We have several hundred trees from small to large. The trees are pre-drilled so that the tree fits easily into the stand. Of course we pack the tree in a net. You can pay cash or with pin.
Nativity scene
Of course, starting Dec. 9, the beautiful nativity scene with all the statues will be in the church garden. It can be visited daily from 9 am - 5 pm. We invite schools to the Christmas story with carols at the crib. If you are interested in this please sign up by email at chmvandenhelder@gmail.com. We will then provide benches, chocolate milk and a candle for the children in the wishing pool.
Christmas centerpieces
On the weekend of December 15, 16 and 17, there will be Christmas piece sales from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. On these 3 days the unique cherry pieces are available again made by our experienced volunteers. We have a special focus on Christmas pieces suitable for outdoors and especially for the churchyard. This sale will be framed with music and chocolate milk/glühwein.
Christmas at the Pool
On Friday evening, December 22, we will provide an atmospheric evening for young and old. Several choirs will perform including a Dickensian choir. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a scavenger hunt through the church garden for all children. Around 7 p.m., a new Christmas story will be told and acted out by the children. Everyone is invited to participate in this. Mary, Joseph and the baby have already been arranged. We invite children to come dressed as angels, sheep or shepherds and participate!
This will be followed by the following activities: Dickensian choir, sleigh with Santa Claus and Christmas lady for a photo opportunity. Stalls with hot chocolate, mulled wine, hot waffles, wishing spool, wishing tree, candles at the nativity scene etc., etc., etc. Everything will be framed by cozy Christmas music from traditional to modern carols.
Church garden redesign
Proceeds from the activities will go to redecorate the church garden! This was severely damaged by the fire and rebuilding. At the same time, the 2022 savings goal will then be spent on lighting the tower. The church garden will be made suitable for events such as garden concerts, outdoor church service and a poetry garden. Would you like to participate to achieve this goal?
