Bringing together about 90 (single) seniors while enjoying a delicious 3-course menu, cooked and served by enthusiastic volunteers. There is a drink of your choice upon entry and coffee or tea at the conclusion. There are a few cooks who take turns cooking.

Every year during the summer vacations of the elementary school, the Outdoor Play bus comes to Bovenkerk. Especially elementary school age children can then play outside with the attributes from the bus herlijk into the evening. The bus carries various sports and game materials such as street field hockey, soccer, volleyball, tennis, skating, Frisbee, space scooters, scooters, etc.

The Mgr. Dr. H. Poelslaan is Lief en Leed street from the start. The Municipality of Amstelveen gives € 150,- as a gift to give neighbors in the street a present for something nice or sad, but always heartwarming. With a network of supporters many flowers and cards have been distributed in the street in corona period.

After the fire in church on Sept. 15, 2018, in collaboration with Martinez, we started selling a thick 200-gram chocolate bar in boxes as well as a deluxe tin. With this we are contributing locally to the church's recovery fund.

On Vierlingsbeeklaan, a pallet on its side has been set up as a plant library. There you can place potted cuttings from your garden and others can take them for free. If you come to pick something up, take something with you. This keeps the library filled. If you know the name of the plant, write it on the pot or on a label. In summer the flush is thinner, but in spring and fall it is well used.

Picking up litter together. On Saturday afternoon a group of residents will clean Bovenkerk of litter. Afterwards we iet drink delicious and there is time to meet each other. Picking sticks and garbage bags will be provided.

Easter Egg Search
Looking for eggs at your Easter best and you will find the golden egg! Then you'll get a big Easter bunny! About 150 bags of chocolate eggs (10 kg.) go through. This is usually combined with activities such as a scavenger hunt and crafts.

This way they can show family, friends and classmates and neighbors what they have to offer. The enthusiasm among the youth is great and the musical genres very diverse. Da found is filled by about eight bands.

St. Urbanus Church is a national monument and is open to the public during Open Monument Days. A varied program is offered and each time slightly different. The tower can be climbed, vaults, the tower museum, the soldiers' quarter visited and all kinds of videos and presentations are held.

One-time activities in the past
Below are one-time activities organized by residents.
Walking tour "Discover Bovenkerk"
Dates: June 2021
It looked so beautiful. The organizing team of the annual Summer Festival and the Residents' Platform had joined forces to organize a coronaproof event on Saturday, September 26. A neighborhood brunch would be held that day in Urbanuspark, along with activities for children, music ánd a walk through Bovenkerk. Of course, everything would be 1.5 meters away from each other. The walk would be a scavenger hunt with the goal of connecting young and old and new and old Upper-Churchers. The scavenger hunt was plotted through the old part of Bovenkerk, through the new construction and along the boundaries of the village. 1,000 booklets were printed containing the scavenger hunt and many beautiful photos and stories. But then the organization had to deal not only with corona but also with a bad weather forecast. This unfortunately forced a last-minute decision to postpone the activity. The organization is going for a retake on June 12, 2021.
Care Compliment Action 2021
Dates: from November 2020 to April 30, 2021
The care compliment action originated in November 2020 and was followed up in 2021. For a donation of €4, donors could provide someone working in Amstelveen care with a chocolate compliment with cards. More than 2,600 compliments were distributed at care institutions.
Heart under the belt
Dates: December 2020
Around the Christmas period an action was held that neighbors could give each other up for a Christmas arrangement. A heart for those who needed it and a compliment for those who helped their neighbors. This resulted in about 150 Christmas pieces that were handed out by two Santa Clauses. The action was particularly appreciated.
Spontaneous actions during corona
Thata: from March 2020
Because of the corona virus, everything was different in 2020. But at that time we also saw that Bovenkerk is nevertheless a beautiful community where all kinds of initiatives are spontaneously developed. For example, in April music was spontaneously made for a lady with dementia in the Zonnehof who turned 100 but was not allowed to receive visitors because of the pandemic. The activities organized by Mieke Regelink during the lockdown could also count on a warm welcome. With her swinging and moving activities for apartment complexes and care locations, she provided many fun moments.
Puzzles
Dates: July 2020
With thanks to the sponsors Amstelidee, Egmana, Rabobank Amstel and Vecht, Zorg en Zekerheid and Participe Amstelland, the Residents' Platform, together with the KBO, had 1,000 jigsaw puzzles made of an image of the tower of the Urbanuskerk. These puzzles were handed out in April/May 2020 accompanied by a beautiful poem by city poet Matthijs de Hollander to 1,000 selected seniors in Bovenkerk and the surrounding area to show them in this way that Bovenkerk is there for them even in the difficult corona times. The many responses show that this action was greatly appreciated.
