Last week was the national Week of the Young Informal Caregiver. Mantelzorg & Meer looks back on a successful week in which various activities were organized for young informal caregivers. Such a week is of course very nice, but it doesn't stop here! Let's make sure together that we continue to see Young Informal Caregivers throughout the year. Young caregivers deserve our attention and support. 1 in 4 children and youth grow up as caregivers. That's more than you think!
Young family caregivers are young people (ages 4-25) who grow up with someone in their immediate environment with a chronic illness, disability, mental vulnerability or addiction. For example, a sister with a muscular disease, a mother who is often gloomy, a father with an addiction or a brother with ADHD.
