Dear Sustainable Friends
Joyous news regarding our project Neighborhood Garden Bovenkerk on Koetsveld Street.
Trees will be planted on Wednesday, April 5, as part of the opening of the national "Tree Day." The happening begins at 10 a.m. and lasts about 90 minutes.
Councilwoman Floor Gordon will appear as well as a class of school children from the Westwijzer (grade 5 or 6).
The alderman gave a speech and handed a representative of the neighborhood the so-called agreement letter, which states that the residents will take care of the maintenance of the trees to be planted.
A total of 8 fairly substantial trees will be planted. The municipality will dig all the holes the day before and then fill them up, so the children can easily shovel the soil away.
It then takes 2 adults to actually place the trees in the hole, after which the children plug and stomp the hole back up.
The fest's organizers will provide something delicious for the children and also tea and/or coffee.
A number of members of the Sustainability Committee Bovenkerk will give an act.
