Are you a wind or percussion player and an advanced amateur? If so, we invite you to join a special project by the Amstelveen Wind Orchestra!

On Saturday, October 24, at 8:00 p.m., we will be giving a grand concert at the Urbanuskerk in Amstelveen. For this project, we are opening our orchestra to a number of guest musicians.

You’ll be part of a wonderful program featuring, among other works, Oscar Navarro’s Clarinet Concerto, performed by top soloist Tom Wolfs. In addition, each section will receive an exclusive workshop led by a professional coach. It’s a unique opportunity to make music together and further develop your skills.

Rehearsals

To make this a great concert, we do ask for your full commitment.

  • Rehearsals begin: Thursday, August 20
  • Rehearsal Night: Every Thursday at the Noorddamcentrum in Bovenkerk Amstelveen) from 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • There are a total of 10 rehearsals before the concert.
  • We expect you to attend as often as possible. If you can't make it one time, please let us know in advance.

In addition, there will be a rehearsal weekend on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days in Bussum (fall break). This weekend is an important part of the project, so participation is mandatory. The group workshops will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 18.

Costs

For the rehearsal weekend, the workshops, and coffee/tea, we ask for a contribution of €50.

Anyone who plays at an advanced amateur level can register. Please indicate your musical (orchestral) experience when you register. To maintain a balanced instrumentation in the orchestra, we unfortunately cannot accept everyone. After you register, we’ll let you know as soon as possible whether you can participate.
