The Ural Cossack Choir from The Hague sings religious songs from the Orthodox liturgy and folk songs from Ukraine with an instrumental ensemble. The choir is becoming increasingly well known at home and abroad, has made several radio and television appearances, including an appearance on Podium Witteman in 2019, and is conducted by Ukrainian pianist and conductor Oksana Kryuchkova.

50 Years in the Netherlands

The Ural Cossack Choir is the continuation of the choir of the Ural Cossack Regiment, which was active until 1917 and reconstituted in Paris in 1924. In 1974, the choir continued in the Netherlands. Thus, the Ural Cossack Choir has existed in Europe for 100 years, 50 of them in the Netherlands. Under competent leadership, the Ural Cossack Choir has developed into a choir of the highest level. The singers are able to sing whisper softly and yet completely carrying. They can also develop great singing power without the slightest coarsening.

Tough Cossacks

The singers come from The Hague and wide surroundings. During working hours they are police officers, bakers, accountants, butchers, bus drivers, sales managers or car mechanics. But once a week during rehearsals and of course at the performances they transform into tough Cossacks singing the most beautiful Slavic songs, with beautiful solos by tenors and baritones.
