Singing together is not only fun and relaxing. It is also good for the brain. Neurologists and neuropsychologists have discovered that singing in particular is beneficial and stimulating for the well-being of people with Parkinson's disease. This is evidenced by the success of a large choir led by the inspired speech therapist and conductor Emiel Hoefnagel.
Starting signal for regional choir
On Thursday, January 8 (3:30-17:30 p.m.), Emiel Hoefnagel leads the Parkinson's Café at the Noorddam Center in Bovenkerk. People with Parkinson's disease and their partners or companions can sing along then.
Inspired by the success of the largest Dutch Parkinson's choir in Nijmegen, enthusiastic volunteers of the Parkinson's Café region Uithoorn have taken the initiative to establish such a choir in this region as well. Conductor Bob Berkemeier will lead this choir. The sing-along event on Jan. 8 will mark the start of the new regional choir. You can buy tickets for this at https://pcu.eventgoose.com.
Commencement of rehearsals
The choir will rehearse and sing weekly from 10:45 to 12:15 a.m. starting Monday, Jan. 12, at the Noorddam Center, Noorddammerweg 1 in Bovenkerk. If you are interested, please mention this when purchasing the ticket. For more information: Edwin Barentsen, info@pcafe.nl or by phone 06-58825091.
