The organizing teams of Young Urbanus and Rock Urbanus have joined forces. This fruitful cooperation has led to the establishment of Poppodium Bovenkerk. With this, the Bovenkerk Foundation, of which Poppodium Bovenkerk is a part, takes the next step for Bovenkerk as the music district of Amstelveen.
Young enthusiasm and experience come together
Poppodium Bovenkerk s main goal is to allow starting and experienced musicians to perform together during busy events. The home base of Poppodium Bovenkerk is the Noorddamcentrum, Noorddammerweg 1 in AmstelveenBovenkerk). The pop stage is run entirely by volunteers, some of whom have professional backgrounds as music teachers and/or musicians. For the events, the team collaborates with rehearsal spaces, music schools and music teachers in the Amstelveen region.
Poppodium Bovenkerk presents...
The first music festivals at Poppodium Bovenkerk are already scheduled. Saturday evening, April 5, will kick off with "Spring Pop. During this band night, a total of 6 regional bands will perform in the main hall of the Noorddam Center, on 2 stages. Several bands have previously been on stage during Rock Urbanus and Young Urbanus. They will play covers and sometimes their own songs in a variety of music styles (from pop, rock and blues to disco and soul). It promises to be a music festival with young bands at the beginning of their music career and older pros. Admission is free. The venue opens at 7:30 p.m.
In addition, Poppodium Bovenkerk is providing the music program for Zomerfeest Bovenkerk on Saturday, July 5, in Urbanuspark. Saturday evening, October 4, Autumn Pop is planned. Again a band night with various (cover) bands.
For the future, the team at Poppodium Bovenkerk plans to organize more activities, such as jazz performances, jam sessions and band coaching.
