On the afternoon of Sunday, April 19, the first edition of Jazz & More took place in the conservatory of the Noorddamcentrum in Amstelveen. This new initiative by Poppodium Bovenkerk a large crowd: over 150 jazz enthusiasts attended the event.
The audience clearly enjoyed the performance by the jazz trio Três. The organizing team at Poppodium Bovenkerk back with pride and satisfaction on this first edition, which was made possible in part thanks to financial support from the Bovenkerk Foundation Bovenkerk the Amstelveen City Fund.



New musical initiative
With Jazz & More, Poppodium Bovenkerk is introducing Bovenkerk at the Noorddamcentrum. The concerts are intended for a broad audience and offer the opportunity to enjoy live music in a relaxed setting. Jazz forms the foundation, with influences from soul, funk, and other musical styles. The organizers have since confirmed that Jazz & More will return. The second edition is expected to take place in September.
The jazz trio Três kicked off the series
The series kicked off with the jazz trio Três, consisting of Joop Vegter (guitar), Melvin Zalmijn (double bass), and Sylvia Blom (vocals). Although the trio regularly performs at small-scale events, they managed to create a warm and cozy atmosphere at the Noorddamcentrum as well.
About Poppodium Bovenkerk
Poppodium Bovenkerk grew out of the teams that organized the band nights Young Urbanus and Rock Urbanus for many years. The poppodium aims to give starting and experienced musicians the opportunity to perform at a variety of events.
The home base is the Noorddamcentrum (Noorddammerweg 1, Amstelveen). Poppodium Bovenkerk is part of residents' platform Stichting Bovenkerk and is run entirely by volunteers, including music teachers and musicians with a professional background. For its events, the pop podium collaborates with rehearsal spaces, music schools and music teachers in the Amstelveen region.
