Foundation Bovenkerk has named Lex Koot volunteer of the year. Besides being lifeguard of the paddling pool at Bovenkerk , Lex is also one of the creators and organizers of the successful Summer Festival. And of course, Lex is the one and only ice cream man of Bovenkerk who sells "Lex's Ice Cream" with his bakfiets ice cream cart on sunny days and during parties.
Farewell to Summer Festival
Among other things, Lex Koot has been involved for years in organizing the Summer Festival in Bovenkerk, a party for young and old in the Urbanuspark. During those celebrations he was the creator of numerous activities, with one of the highlights being the pie-baking contest 'Heel Bovenkerk Bakt'. After many years, Lex is going to leave the organization of the summer festival to others.
Standing ovation
The Bovenkerk volunteer of the year was traditionally announced at the Foundation's New Year's reception Bovenkerk, where Lex received a standing ovation from all the volunteers in attendance.
President of the Bovenkerk Foundation , Rob van den Helder, thanked Lex for his tireless efforts and hopes that Lex can now enjoy the Summer Festival delightfully on the sidelines. The volunteers can continue the tradition with the script set up by Lex.
Unfortunately, Lex was unable to receive his honorary title (yet) due to family circumstances, but this will be done at another time.
