AMSTELVEEN – On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Noorddamcentrum in Bovenkerk once again Bovenkerk the venue for live music. On that day, Poppodium Bovenkerk will host Lentepop Bovenkerk the second time, a music festival featuring performances by six bands from Amstelveen and the surrounding area. Admission is free, and doors open at 7:30 p.m. 

Following the success of its first edition, the event returns with a diverse program spread across two stages. Visitors can look forward to a mix of rock, pop, soul, and jazzy renditions of well-known songs. Through this, the organizers aim not only to provide an enjoyable evening of music but also to highlight the local music scene in Amstelveen and the surrounding area. 

Local bands on stage

The lineup features six bands with strong ties to Bovenkerk, Amstelveen, or the surrounding area.

  • MEENA– This up-and-coming pop-rock artist writes her own songs and blends rock influences with catchy pop melodies. With her unique sound and energetic band, this promises to be a performance you won’t forget.
  • Up The Attic– Familiar hits with a surprising new twist. This band gives songs from different eras and genres a fresh, jazzy interpretation. Both familiar and innovative at the same time.
  • John Spijker Trio– this trio, led by Bovenkerk-based singer-songwriter John Spijker, performs a mix of rock and pop, including both covers and original songs. The band is a familiar name on stages in and around Amstelveen.
  • Wanda and the Bovenkerk – an energetic show featuring a mix of rock, new wave, and familiar sing-alongs, with a strong focus on audience interaction.
  • Dreamvox– New talent on stage. After many rehearsals in the practice room, this band is now taking the leap to performing on real stages. Lentepop is one of their first gigs.
  • Clubmotown– Time for soul and groove. This big band featuring three female vocalists performs the biggest Motown and classic soul hits from the ’60s and ’70s. 

Lentepop highlights the strength of local musical talent. Some of the musicians also volunteer at Poppodium Bovenkerk. 

Music evening for the general public

Lentepop is intended for a wide audience from Amstelveen and the surrounding area. People of all ages are welcome to celebrate spring together through music. The Noorddamcentrum will also be treating visitors to free bitterballen. 

The event is organized by Poppodium Bovenkerk is made possible thanks to the efforts of volunteers, the Bovenkerk Foundation Bovenkerk the bands, who are performing for free. As a result, Lentepop is not only a music festival but also an initiative that brings the local community together.

About Poppodium Bovenkerk

Poppodium Bovenkerk grew out of the teams that organized the band nights Young Urbanus and Rock Urbanus for many years. The poppodium aims to give starting and experienced musicians the opportunity to perform at a variety of events.

The home base is the Noorddamcentrum (Noorddammerweg 1, Amstelveen). Poppodium Bovenkerk is part of residents' platform Stichting Bovenkerk and is run entirely by volunteers, including music teachers and musicians with a professional background. For its events, the pop podium collaborates with rehearsal spaces, music schools and music teachers in the Amstelveen region.
