Saturday, May 24, 2025 Harmonie Orkest Amstelveen and Brassband Breukelen will give a swinging concert with the theme Brass meets harmony in the Noorddamcentrum in Amstelveen Bovenkerk.

The concert begins at 8 p.m. The hall is open from 7:30 pm. The entrance fee is €10.00, tickets are available at the door.

Both musical groups will play pieces that take full advantage of the unique sound of a brass band and that of a harmony.

This is the second time that the two musical groups are hosting a joint concert. Last April, they performed together in Breukelen with A world of music, a beautiful evening-length double concert.

Harmonie Orkest Amstelveen was founded on June 22, 1922 as R.K. Fanfare Bovenkerk. Today the orchestra has about 35 amateur musicians led by conductor Nico Schimmel. The orchestra gives two concerts a year and performs regularly in the Amstelveen area. On May 4th the orchestra traditionally provides the musical accompaniment at the commemoration of the dead in Amstelveen and on King's Day the orchestra performs an aubade in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. More information can be found on the website harmonieorkestamstelveen.nl.

Brass Band Breukelen was founded in 1920 and is one of the oldest Dutch brass bands. Brassband Breukelen frequently performs at festivities and official occasions in the region. The concerts are regularly graced by the participation of well-known artists, soloists or other ensembles. Brass Band Breukelen also participates annually in the National Brass Band Championships in the 1st Division. In 1998, 2005 and 2010 the band became Dutch Champion in this Division.
