Commemorative Concert on May 4 at St. Urbanus Church

On Monday, May 4, 2026, the Latin Parish Choir “Cantemus Dominum” will host its 13th annual May 4 Commemoration Concert. For the first time, due to our move from the Augustinuskerk in Amsterdam-Buitenveldert, the concert Bovenkerk at our new home, the Urbanuskerk Bovenkerk .

This year, Joseph Gruber’s“Second Requiem in C minor”is the main feature of the program. The concert’s theme is the occupation of Amstelveen during World War II, with excerpts from the book“Years of Darkness”being recited between musical pieces. This year, 15 four-meter-long banners based on the theme have been painted by students from the 8th grade of Sint Jozef Elementary School and the 7th grade of De Triangel Elementary School, which adorn the side walls of the church. At the end of the memorial concert, a collection will be taken to benefit “War Child” for children in war zones.
