Meeting for family members and loved ones of young people with dementia – The Current State of Research, November 10, 2026

November 10, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Amstelveen – On Tuesday, November 10, 2026, a gathering will beheld at the De Meent Community Center for loved ones of young people with dementia. The gathering is intended for partners, family members, friends, and people who are themselves living with dementia at a young age.

The theme of this evening is “The State of Science.” Science is increasingly focusing on early detection, slowing the progression of disease, and understanding the complex chain reaction in the brain. Drugs that slow cognitive decline are currently being tested. But what is the status of all these studies? Can we expect a breakthrough?

Our guest speakers this evening

There is still no cure for dementia. However, research has made great strides in recent years. These five breakthroughs offer hope for better treatments in the future. The Alzheimer Nederland website lists the five most important breakthroughs.
Moderator Job van Amerongen will speak with Dr. Kim de Klein and Dr. Roos Jutten, both of whom work at Amsterdam UMC, about research on dementia.

Who is this meeting intended for?
These meetings are organized by the JMD project group for family members and friends of young people with dementia. Young people with dementia are also very welcome. At the end of the meeting, a (light) meal will be provided by Alzheimer Nederland.
